Hey everyone!
Today I had the privilege of tagging along for a VIP tour that VF7 won through raising the most money for the Coasting for Kids benefit. We got there around 10am, met up with a few other folks, and then met with Tom from Marketing at around 10:30am. We started out with Bloodshed, looking around in there. Now before I go through all the mazes,
I can't stress enough how much you all have to get to Haunt this year! There's so many amazing new scares here & there in pretty much all of the mazes!
Anyway, like I said, we started out walking through Bloodshed. Overall, I'm not going to give too much away, but with 3 VFZ members going through, even we were confused with a lot of the stuff that was going on inside there! The layout isn't completely changed around, but it's a lot more twisted, compact, and creepy than last year. We're definitely looking forward to a couple of the new scares!
From there we headed over to the Asylum. Having been through the Asylum already, I can tell you that not much has changed although there's a new wall here, new mishung portrait there, salamander over somewhere, etc. Although nothing really has significantly changed, we got to walk through with the lights off which made things VERY creepy. Creepier than some Haunt nights to be honest. Overall I think you all should look forward to another strong year of the inmates going insane in the Asylum.
After the Asylum we headed back to see Hellside which is Tom's maze for the year. He explained to us some of his ideas & took us through what he hopes will be a much improved year for Hellside. There's some very original scares that will take place, and overall Tom mentioned that he wants this farm to be scarier than ever this year! We'll have to find out on Opening Night (and throughout Haunt) if that's the case. We sure hope it is!
After Hellside, we went back near the Gazebo Stage to snag some free corn. I can safely say that I probably won't eat anymore corn for the rest of the year. That stuff is too good. Gotta love the corn feast.
We had a bit of a break for the tour so we snagged rides on Wild Thing and Looping Starship (which surprisingly was really fun). We then met back up with Tom to finish off the tour with a look inside CarnEvil. The front of the maze hasn't changed too much, but the ending is VERY different. It'll be very obvious to all the Haunt fanatics what has changed since 2009, and overall, the whole group was ecstatic about how the ending is going to be this year. Expect the unexpected.
Overall we had a fantastic day at the park. Lines were huge for just about everything, the corn was delicious, the weather was prime, and all together it was just a great day to be at the park. Huge thanks to Tom from Marketing for leading us around for the day! I know I had a blast & can't wait for Haunt to start.
Took a few photos here & there that I hope you all will enjoy. Thanks for reading!

New advertisements all around the park on the infoboards. Creepy!

Squint your eyes & pretend you can see the heaps of corn piled all around this area.

Mmmmm.... Free Corn.

Chateau construction will start on Monday or Tuesday for sure.

Bloodshed construction from the outside.

Carnage construction should start after Labor Day as well.

Mind the bluriness, my camera is ready for this VF season to be over. Anyway, here are some more Carnage props, walls, etc. And don't forget about the fog filled tents of DOOM!

Here's where Blood Creek is going to be rerouted to this year! Very compact.

The Asylum's sign.

Hellside's ending. It'll be switched up from this though, no worries!

Hellside's queue line area.
Well that just about concludes this Haunt Construction Update! Hope you all enjoyed the photos & whatnot. Training starts this Wednesday for some of the Haunt Monsters so watch Valleyfairzone's Twitter account and follow Shouts From the BigTop, our unique Twitter feature that follows a clown inside CarnEvil & his journey through Haunt.
Only 2 more weeks until Opening Night! Have a good Labor Day,
~MM
