Valleyfairzone

Well today was the Planet Snoopy Announcement! Got out to the park and met up with r78, Neers, Vfhauntfreak & the Toader. Got some early morning ERT in on Xtreme Swing & Wild Thing, and then went to set up camp over at Kidworks for the announcement at 11:00am. Now to be totally honest, we saw Snoopy uncovered all the way from Wild Thing, so we kind of knew that Snoopy was coming in the first place, but this all the more confirmed it.

At around 11:00am, the ceremony kicked off and they announced Planet Snoopy. A $9 million dollar kids area that will span from Kidworks through Half Pint Park. This isn't going to just be a kids area, this is going to literally be a whole planet folks. Tons of new rides, rethemed current attractions (Flying Trapeze, Frog Hopper, Rockin' Tug, Hot Air Balloons, Convoys, Seaplanes, Bumble Bees, and a few others), more pavers than you can count, a new amphitheater area that will accompany the rethemed Foam Ball Factory, a Snoopy Boutique, a Planet Snoopy entrance plaza, and SO much more!

Now you may be asking, why so excited for an expansion that includes a ton of rides that you're probably too tall to ride? Because Snoopy not only belongs in Minnesota, but he was born here, he has lived here, and he will now have a permanent home at Valleyfair. I grew up with Camp Snoopy at Mall of America. I don't know what it was about the place, but there was an atmosphere in Camp Snoopy that made it so welcoming to kids (like myself, and so many on this site were), and that's something that has lasted with me since the day it closed. I know I won't be able to ride many of the rides, but it's so nice to know that kids will have the same experience with Snoopy as I did growing up. I'm sure Planet Snoopy will make a memorable kids area for future Valleyfair enthusiasts, fans, and guests alike. It made my day to see a giant inflatable Snoopy, a grand Snoopy Plaza, and obviously the various selection of rides that they are adding. I know that millions of kids will enjoy Planet Snoopy, and I hope they remember it like I remember Camp Snoopy.

Anyway, enough ranting. After the announcement we sat in the Garden Plaza & gazed at the info packet. Overall I'm really looking forward to keeping track of the construction during the offseason. Should be fun to watch! After a few rides with the VFZ folks, I headed out. But before I left the park, I went back with r78 & the Toader to look at the plans one last time. There were tons of kids, teens, and parents looking at the expansion plans. No matter what age you are, I think Planet Snoopy will provide something for you. This expansion in my eyes is a real winner, and I can't wait for Opening Day 2011 to see everything in person.

Thanks for reading & now onto the photos!

The announcement area in Kidworks.

Our favorite part? HAUNT FOG!

Here we see the Squiggles & Marketing/Communcations Director extraordinaire Tom.

Everyone loves Planet Snoopy! Let's party.

This train will actually start and end back by where that big old tree slide dealio is next year in the newly expanded Planet Snoopy! Should be sweet.

Here's a general look at the upper half of PS.

Bottom half and entrance area of Psnoops.

What will be the fate of Mild Thing? To be honest, we don't know! We talked with a few folks from the park and they weren't really sure. We do know that it will be moved and rethemed though if it stays.

Bye Bye Koi Pond, Hello Snoopy Boutique!

This tree won't be here unfortunately. That train that I mentioned will be though!

Hi! I'm going to be rethemed.

And I'm going to be demolished!

Goodbye Kidworks . . .

Hello Planet Snoopy!

That's right folks, the loop is being removed. Can't wait for the new launched Corkscrew. Should be absolutely sensational!

See you next year Snoopy!

Well thanks for reading everyone! The announcement was fantastic and we can't wait to see construction start up during Haunt! And speaking of Haunt . . . Construction for the 5th Year of FEAR will begin sometime in the next 2 weeks, so keep your eyes out!

I am so mad I couldn't go. Frowny face. Good photos and trip report. Wish I could have been there to meet up with all you guys. I hope MT stays. I felt a pumpkin vibe coming from MT all these years.
It's still kind of up in the air. Haven't confirmed anything yet, so at this point we aren't really sure if Mild Thing is getting replaced.
Why would the loop be removed?
I'm pretty sure he was kidding. Corckscrew would be SO lame without the loop.
Looks like an outdoor seating area possibly for a food place right behind the inflatible bounce Snoopy.
Its the Garden Patio
