So it looks as if MN may not be deprived of a major new ride for 2012 after all. Posted to ScreamScape this Morning:
"
2012 - New Attraction - Planning - (8/12/11) In an interview with Nickelodeon Universe posted to Park Thoughts, the park confirms that there is a big new ride in the works for 2012 as well as a few other projects."
Unfortunately you have to listen to an Audio Clip to hear it, but according to the the Director of Marketing there will be something new. Obviously it isn''t going to be an Invert, but when the host asks if they can expect anything big in the future, she mentions "We're hopeful that we'll be able to add a significant new ride for next year." She also makes it sound like another up-charge ride may be going in with in the next few years.
"Not first of it's kind" :(
PS. She mentions the age limitations at night, which I know a few will get a kick out of lol

I also found this on Wiki: "MOA has signed contracts to bring in Great Wolf Resorts as the waterpark operator".
Permalink Reply by Steven John on December 11, 2011 at 12:13am I like seeing all the digging in the earth like when they did Sponge Bob. They could make nice use of that entry space now. Do we know the ride that is going in? I haven't seen much.
Permalink Reply by Triggernel on December 14, 2011 at 3:03pm Well with Gerslauters Site claiming the first Sky Fly will open next year at something called a Nigloland in France, I have to assume it will be the Sky Roller version we will be seeing. This also fits better with the initial claim that whatever we would see would not be the first of its kind.
Permalink Reply by vfhauntfreak on December 14, 2011 at 5:52pm I'm hoping for the sky fly... it fits the land better, and it looks more intense. I'm sure that we'll be able to figure it out as soon as pieces of it show up though, which should be anytime now
Permalink Reply by Triggernel on December 15, 2011 at 11:39am My thinking was that since NU seems to be working at a pretty good clip, and I would assume this French park is outdoors, NU's would be finished sometime in Feb, while the French park would be in the middle of winter. Just my deduction.
EDIT: 2nd Sky Fly going to Legoland Germany...?

Well Gerslauter also said they would be building 3 this year. One was in the US. So if NU is saying that this will not be the first of it's kind, maybe what they mean is it won't be the first to open which technically means it's not the first of it's kind.
Permalink Reply by vfhauntfreak on December 16, 2011 at 4:24pm I took a look at the construction site this afternoon. There's a footer of some sort (appears to be the base of the ride) that's about to be poured. It wasn't very big, and after looking up the skyroller on youtube, the base appears to be about the same size as the footer I saw. I don't think we're looking at the sky fly. Also, it's pretty far out towards the edge of the park. It's about where the exit of the axe used to be. Maybe even a bit farther.
If I'm back anytime soon I'll be sure to bring my camera, because I think vertical construction is going to start very soon.
Permalink Reply by Triggernel on December 17, 2011 at 4:49pm So I was thinking today about that empty plot of space where the park's food court used to be. Why isn't the new ride going in there? The land certainly seems bigger than Tak Attack's spot. Nonetheless I had a few ideas of what I would like to see put into this spot. In the aforementioned interview, the Marketing lady said there maybe another up charge attraction on its way, and if I remember correctly, she said it would be similar or involve Ghostly Gangplank. This got me wondering: what if NU did what Old Town did in Orlando and added the Zip Lines from the top level of GG over to another tower where the Butterflies used to fly. They might have to Zig Zag them a little bit, with some checkpoints in between, but I think it could work, kinda hard to tell without being there.
Option two in that space is where we might see the long rumored Zac-Spin.
Option three and my favorite would be to do what Universal did with Simpson's and the Kwik-E-Mart and put in shops and food stands that actually relate to the shows. Think of how cool it would be to grab a Krabby Patty inside the Krusty Krab or The Premier Snack Stand from Drake and Josh. I think people would totally choose those over the regular mall offerings upstairs.
What do you guys think could work in that spot? Will it be the up charge, the long-rumored Zac-Spin or something else?
Permalink Reply by vfhauntfreak on December 17, 2011 at 5:29pm Well, the upcharge appears to be going in right next to the ropes course, above ghost blasters at the moment. I don't know why I forgot to mention that in my earlier post.
As for the food court thing, I know there used to be rumors of a vekoma kiddie invert (think runaway reptar.... now that I think about it, that's probably what they would call it) going there eventually. Who knows if that's still in the plan though. If not, I could sorta see a Zac-Spin, but it'd be a short one, unless they really dug down. Plus I think that may be close enough to the edge of the park to have the basement interfere with that.
Also, it would be possible for them to get rid of that ballroom thing. I don't know how much they use it, but it appears to be somewhat like their version of the VF amphitheater. That space combined with the food court could actually fit a decent sized coaster if they wanted to do that.
Permalink Reply by Valleyfair Fan on December 17, 2011 at 7:52pm I think they may use the ballroom for one of their main group sales pavilions.
Permalink Reply by Knexrule11 on December 17, 2011 at 8:33pm I was just talking to LauraS. A friend of hers just went to MOA today, and sent her some pictures of a footer/foundation hole, and a lable that read "Nickelodeon Universe, Sky Fly Ride + Slides". That must be why they are building so far away from the Mighty Axe's position. We're getting a Sky Fly! In my opinion, it's a lot better then a Sky Roller.
+ Slides? What might that mean?
Once again, thanks LauraS for the pictures.
I was at MOA today and there was a brand new footer (I was told one week old) where the first targets used to be. When I asked a manager what it was for he responded with a very quick and annoyed "construction" .
Permalink Reply by Steven John on December 18, 2011 at 4:36am Tiggernel, Where is that area of unused space you mentioned? I can't picture it.
SkyFly looks awesome. This is the model they are using for the installation in France so I'm guessing it's what we are getting? I'm excited to see one of these in action.
