So it looks as if MN may not be deprived of a major new ride for 2012 after all. Posted to ScreamScape this Morning:
"
2012 - New Attraction - Planning - (8/12/11) In an interview with Nickelodeon Universe posted to Park Thoughts, the park confirms that there is a big new ride in the works for 2012 as well as a few other projects."
Unfortunately you have to listen to an Audio Clip to hear it, but according to the the Director of Marketing there will be something new. Obviously it isn''t going to be an Invert, but when the host asks if they can expect anything big in the future, she mentions "We're hopeful that we'll be able to add a significant new ride for next year." She also makes it sound like another up-charge ride may be going in with in the next few years.
"Not first of it's kind" :(
PS. She mentions the age limitations at night, which I know a few will get a kick out of lol

Heh, I have no idea why I thought that it was gonna be for a hotel or something.... is it done? (Driven past MOA everyday on my way to school, so I get to see those two lovely cranes protruding into the sky...)
Permalink Reply by vfhauntfreak on November 22, 2011 at 11:52pm Well I did make it to the mall this evening. I managed to meet up with Triggernel and scope out the construction/deconstruction site of Tak Attack/Mighty Axe. Nothing major appears to have been done to the ride itself. It's currently resting in the horizontal position while most of the work is currently being done on the former queue/control booth.
Here are some pictures. Sorry they're a bit dark, I got stuck in traffic and got to the park a bit later than I had planned.
Still more or less in one piece
Whats left of the loading platform/control booth
Tractor
Whats left of the queue
So either...
1. This is also going to be removed, and the new ride will go more or less between this and Tak's plot. Most of the space from Tak will be used to re-route the path that is currently to the right of this photo op thing.
or
2. NU is too lazy to make a "Closed for the day" sign, so they just grabbed whatever they could find in a nearby storage closet.
You decide.
Anyways, this should be interesting. I guess the only thing everyone is sure about is that it's going to be a Gerstlauer creation of some sort. Some say skyroller, some say sky fly. One thing Triggernel pointed out was that because of Orangesaw/Ripstreak's track, a sky fly would not fit in the Axe's spot. Unless it faced backwards, which would be kinda ugly/weird. Either the ride will end up farther towards the shopping section of the mall, or streak's track could be re-profiled to make room.
I plan to continue following the construction as it progresses. I'm sure we'll figure out what it is as soon as parts of it begin to show up.
Permalink Reply by Knexrule11 on December 1, 2011 at 10:58pm I was at MOA tonight, and I grabbed some pictures. They have the whole top taken down. They had taken all the seats off, and disconnected the arm. A few pictures:
Interesting picture here. They cut holes in the structure to lower the arm. Seems like this ride won't be re-used....

Also, sorry that some are blurry, it's not easy to get low light shots.
Permalink Reply by Steven John on December 2, 2011 at 5:31am Progress! Since the park opened I have not understood that ride. I didn't dislike it. I just didn't think it fun in any way. Boring actually. It had a little bit of spectator appeal but not much since not many people rode it.
How are they going to get that thing out of the building? I'm looking forward to see what the new ride will be.
Thanks for taking these pictures. It's interesting to see them take down this huge thing… especially indoors.
Permalink Reply by Triggernel on December 2, 2011 at 10:49am Just as a quick D-Bag correction, the ride did not open with the park.

Permalink Reply by Mangler-Matt on December 2, 2011 at 10:51am Great photos Knex! Thanks for uploading them! Looks like we'll be on top of the Construction process for MOA's new ride once again. I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing whatever is put in & how it interacts with Blue Streak.
Permalink Reply by Triggernel on December 2, 2011 at 10:57am That'd be quite the "Stretch" Waka-Waka

Permalink Reply by Triggernel on December 2, 2011 at 7:40pm Love that first shot! Used to be such an impressive looking attraction with the axe on the end.
Was my first big ride, hit it right when I got to 48" before Corkscrew and even Wild Thing.
